You just can't help being struck by the irony of our leaders jetting all over
the world to
desperately try to cobble together some support for our continuing
presence in Iraq. Where were these flights in 2002? Is it me, or are Bush and
Cheney simply putting the kind of diplomatic effort into sustaining a war that
most leaders would have put into preventing one?

I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving. We did a lot of eating and a LOT of
singing. There were 60 of us my uncle's old Bucks County farmhouse. I started
the day at 10 o'clock mass where I'd been asked to give the Thanksgiving homily.
Saint Joes was Delaware's first African American Catholic Church and remains the
city of Wilmington's only predominantly black parish. Folks are used to seeing
the white guy with the long hair and beard in the back pew and after mass a
lovely older woman came up to me told me how much she enjoyed my talk. She made
me laugh saying: "If you had twelve friends, I'd of thought you were Jesus!" I
also got to visit my group at Gander Hill Prison and was moved to witness among
the guys a spirit of gratitude that wasn't dependent on material possession or
even bodily freedom
Got this word from Arlo last week: "Due to circumstances beyond out control the
benefit gigs at Tipitina's in New Orleans have been cancelled". Not really sure
what happened there but will let you know if and when we reschedule.
