Three Blank Pages
By John Flynn

They handed him an envelope from his pride and joy
Addressed to a long number and sent by his little boy
But what was folded up within just left him down and lonely
For he opened that envelope and inside he found only

Three blank pages
Not a single word
Just three blank pages

Now It had been a whole year since that man had seen his son
Cause he was paying off a debt for something he had done
When you're inside you live for words from someone that you love
That's why it hurt so much and why he could not make sense of

Three blank pages
Not a single word
Just three blank pages

He learned on a phone call with his wife a few days later
The boy had hoped his dad would write
And thought he might need paper

Three blank pages
Stained by a father tears
Just three blank pages

Three blank pages
Saying more than words
Just three blank pages
